VivaCell-MTS to launch LTE next generation network technology in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - VivaCell-MTS is planning a launch of Long Term Evolution (LTE) next generation mobile wireless broadband technology in Armenia.

As company CEO Ralf Yirikian told a news conference in Yerevan, current 3G network coverage provided by VivaCell-MTS amounts to 92%.

“Technical preparations for 4th generation network launch are in progress. The technology in question was implemented in only a few countries and Armenia is to be among them.”

For the first time in CIS, LTE network was put into operation in Tashkent in the end of July 2010. A test launch of LTE mobile network technology in Ukraine and Armenia was scheduled by yearend.
