AZERBAIJAN HAS MET ITS NEXT FAILURE IN THE "OIL SPHERE"
Last week the oil sector of Azerbaijan was seriously attacked. As "Expert" magazine informs, the American company "ExxonMobil" has stated that the first drilled oil well in the Oguz oil field, that is located on the Caspian shelf, has not affirmed the commercial reserve of oil. Earlier it was assumed that the Oguz oil field had about 95 mln tons of oil. The "ExxonMobil" drilling negative results are already the third ones this year. In January, the consortium, headed by the Italian oil company "Agip" did not find considerable reserves of hydrocarbons in the Kyurdashi oil field. French group "TotalFinaElf" has stated that it is near to failure. It is still in question the results of the drilling of "Chevron". Its geologists are still exploring the Apsheron oil field in order to affirm the availability of huge reserves of gas, earlier sized up a trillion cubic meters.
At the same time, considerable oil reserves have been affirmed in the Kazakhstan's oil field "Kashagan" and more minor structures of the Russian sectors of the Caspian. So while Azerbaijani oil is being searched for in Azerbaijani shelf, investors can refuse their participation in Baku-Jeykhan project. Instead, as the columnists of "Expert" think, they can invest money in the constructing of an oil pipeline through Russia's territory.
