Parajanov, like Sayat-Nova, sang in all languages

PanARMENIAN.Net - Script writer, filmmaker, author of the script of Maestro film about Sergei Parajanov, Irakly Kvirikadze said he admitted one day that the theme of Parajanov is the same thing as climbing Everest in slippers – you are equipped with nothing, you are unaware of alpinism, you have never climbed such mountain peaks.

According to him, whatever is said about Parajanov, “one can never reach this grand person,” RFE/RL reported.

“Central Partnership offered me to write a script for a feature film about Parajanov, as there are many documentaries about him. I was surprised at being invited to Central Partnership. There is Armenia with many wonderful Armenian authors. I had an impression that he is an honor of the nation, though his life refers to the entire South Caucasus – he, like Sayat-Nova, sang in all languages,” said Kvirikadze, adding that Parajanov made gifts to Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, through creating films there.

Soon, Central Partnership film company will start working on the first feature film about Sergei Parajanov - Maestro. The 3mln euro project is initiated by the CIS Humanitarian Cooperation Foundation. The film will be shot in Kyiv, Tbilisi, Moscow, Yerevan, Paris, Rotterdam and, possibly, Venice.
