Armenian drivers unaware of their rights![]() November 15, 2010 - 14:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - About 430-450 thousand vehicles should be insured in Armenia by the end of the current year, according to Eduard Hovhannesyan, the chairman of Achilles center for drivers’ rights protection. “The system of compulsory car insurance was developed correctly and will function in Armenia, unlike Georgia, where the initiative was cancelled because of numerous forged policies,” he said. At the same time Hovhannesyan noted that although discussions on introduction of compulsory car insurance started two years ago, yet drivers seem not to be aware of their rights. “For example, if the vehicle is not used for some time, it can be dropped from the roster for AMD 5 thousand,” he said. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
