Yerevan hosts exhibition of Armenian masksNovember 27, 2010 - 18:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On November 27, Yerevan hosted opening of an exhibition of scene-designer Lilit Stepanyan. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Stepanyan's teacher, scene-designer of Armenia Grisha Sahakyan. Stepanyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that she has got the idea of creating masks, when she started collecting masks brought from various countries. "I like masks very much and I have got a big collection. I started thinking of creating Armenian masks, when I understood that we do not have masks. There are not masquerades in our country, as, for example, in Italy," she said. Stepanyan went on saying that she would like masquerades to be organized in Armenia on various occasions - Independence Day or Yerevan Day: "Why should not we have our Armenian masks to organize a gorgeous holiday with them?" She added that though she got the idea of creating masks three years ago, the given collection was created during a short period - within six months.
