Parajanovmuseum.am website wins ArmNet Awards contest, though it lacked Armenian content

PanARMENIAN.Net - The website of the house museum of outstanding filmmaker Sergei Parajanov (parajanovmuseum.am) received the grand prix of ArmNet Awards web contest. The website was created on a non-profit basis in 2008 at the initiative of ZOOM GRAPHICS web studio.

“We are interested in presenting the Armenian heritage in Internet and considered presentation of Sergei Parajanov museum to be interesting,” Director of the studio Samvel Chobanyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Seeing the work, a donor from Russia has applied to the studio for creation of a website for Children’s Art Gallery in Yerevan. Creation of a website for children (audio tales, electronic books with author’s illustrations) with Armenian-language content is among other non-profit projects of the studio. The website is scheduled to be completed in 2011.

According to Chairman of the international jury of ArmNet Awards contest Samvel Martirosyan, parajanovmuseum.am website has gained the biggest number of points in various categories. “It is a harmoniously developed website, the design of which meets Parajanov’s spirit. Jury members also liked its processability,” Martirosyan told PanARMENIAN.Net adding that the only shortage of the project is its availability only in English. “Armenian-language content was a serious advantage for the jury, however, as parajanovmuseum.am gained good points in other categories, the lack of the Armenian content has not hampered the website from becoming the contest winner,” noted Martirosyan.

The project has got most of the votes in all nominations, specifically for the best technical solution.

Meanwhile, Director of Parajanov House-Museum Zaven Sarkisyan, who received the prize of ArmNet Awards, even did not express gratitude to the website creators for the work done. Besides, he told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that he rarely visits the museum website.

The award for Design and Usability also went to ZOOM GRAPHICS for Bogossian Gardens, www.bg.am website of the Lovers’ Park.

The prize of ArmNet Awards was set by SP Marketing Solutions, Circle.am and Orange Armenia, under the auspices of the Minister of Economy of Armenia in 2010.
