Petros Semerjyan: there are 30,000 drug addicts in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of the Drug Abuse Center at the RA Ministry of Healthcare Petros Semerjyan said that there are 30,000 drug addicts in Armenia, of which 7 000 use drugs intravenously.

“As of January 1, 2010, only 1 717 drug addicts are registered in Armenia, including 760 residents of Yerevan. 90% of drug addicts in Armenia are aged 24-25,” Semerjyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, the number of drug addicts increased by 382 people in Armenia over a year that is reasoned by the country’s economic growth.

The drug therapist noted that all necessary methods for treatment of drug addicts are used in Armenia.
