Armenian supermarkets compete to gain clients

PanARMENIAN.Net - In 2011 the number of large retail shops is expected to grow and supplant small shops almost completely.

Representative of STAR supermarket network told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that currently they have 18 supermarkets, with another 12 supermarkets expected to be opened in 2011, one of them in January.

As for the chains of supermarkets currently operating in Armenia, STAR believes that this index is far from European standards. “There are opportunities for development.”

However, according to STAR, supermarkets are distributed unevenly, while their workload in some administrative districts of Yerevan is not justified.

Nor Zovq supermarket network manager stated that “Armenian supermarkets compete to gain clients.”

Almost all chains of retail shops envisage expansion of their networks.
