RPA: Armenian authorities have enough will to hold fair electionsApril 4, 2011 - 16:21 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian authorities have enough political will and potential to hold fair elections in the country, according to a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). At news conference in Yerevan, Hovhannes Sahakyan urged against recalling last elections, stressing that this time the authorities will take efforts to make amends. To organize fair elections, the RPA member noted, it’s necessary to establish cooperation between the authorities and the opposition in order to form the culture of elections with the society. As Sahakyan stated, at present, some political forces accuse the authorities of the intention to falsify the elections with the help of the Electoral Code-to-be-adopted. “We’re ready for fair elections; still, biased criticism of even a single oppositionist is capable of exacerbating the atmosphere of distrust with the population,” he emphasized.
