Iran ready to increase gas supplies to Armenia up to 2.3bln cu m per yearApril 11, 2011 - 16:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company Javad Owji said Iran is ready to increase natural gas supplies to Armenia. According to him, negotiations are held with Armenia to this end. “It is expected that the total volume of natural gas export will increase up to 2.3bln cubic meters per year, i.e. 6.3mln cubic meters a day,” Mehr agency quoted Owji as saying. In 2004, Armenia and Iran signed an agreement on Iranian gas supplies in exchange for electric power from Armenia. The agreement envisaged the volume of Iranian gas export to total 1bln cubic meters per year until 2010. Currently, over 1mln cubic meters of natural gas is exported to Armenia per day via 30 inches in diameter and 113km long pipeline from Tabriz.
