RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTER RULES OUT RESUMPTION OF AZERI-ARMENIAN FIGHTING

PanARMENIAN.Net - 26.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Russian Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev said on Monday during a brief visit to Azerbaijan's capital Baku that he rules out resumption of Azeri-Armenian fighting.

According to Russian agencies, Igor Sergeyev was quoted as saying: "I am 120 per cent sure that there won't be any more fighting". The Defense Minister of Azerbaijan Safar Abiyev noted in his turn that Russia, as one of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, "may provide a breakthrough in the Karabakh issue settlement". -0-
