Electric vehicles should be promoted in ArmeniaJune 25, 2011 - 14:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - It is urgent for Armenia to stimulate use of vehicles functioning on renewable energy sources, Morten Sondergaard, according to representative of Danish Energy Management. The country authorities should re-consider legislative field, namely to cancel excise on bio-ethyl used as a bio-fuel in the transportation field as well as to revoke customs duties for electric vehicles enabling their penetration to the Armenian market, Sondergaard told journalists on June 25 presenting the manual program on development of renewable energy sources in the Armenian health resort city Aghveran (Kotayk province). Today the country’s authorities give preference to public transport working on natural gas, and the works are in progress on stoppage of trams use which is considered an ecologically pure transport throughout the world. In 2010, vehicles growth in the country increased by 9% as compared to 2009, moreover 40% vehicles replaced petrol fuel with natural gas.
