THE GOVERNMENT OF RUSSIA APPROVED THE PROJECT OF AGREEMENT ON ORGANIZING DAILY ACTIVITIES OF RUSSIAN UNITS ON THE TERRITORY OF ARMENIANovember 24, 2000 - 21:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - 24.11.2000, YEREVAN. The Ministry of Defense of Russia is authorized by the Russian government to sign a Russian-Armenian agreement on organizing daily activities and garrison duty of the Russian units outside the territory of the Russian military base in Armenia.As the Military news agency reports, the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Kasyanov signed this resolution. The project of this agreement envisages concordance of the activities of the garrison chiefs of the Russian military base with state government bodies of Armenia, as well as with the militaries, in the matter of organizing garrison and guard duties, realization of garrison events with the participation of troops outside the territory of the Russian military base. Garrison patrols are formed for the servicemen's discipline observance outside the stationing area of the Russian military base. The patrolling is realized in the streets and other public places, at railway and automobile terminals, airports and stations, as well as in settlements near the garrison. While carrying out duty and realizing operative-investigation measures the garrison patrol of the Armed forces of Armenia, the staff of the military police department and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia are authorized to check the documents of the Russian military base servicemen, when they are outside the territory of the base, for identity verification. In case of public order violation or crime perpetration the Russian military base serviceman is arrested with the urgent notification of the competent bodies of the Russian Federation.
