BMW Group’s international cultural commitment celebrate the 40th anniversary and this BMW Art Car Collection virtual video tour was launched just in time to coincide with it. According to speedlux.com, in premiere, an extensive virtual overview of the origin, history and development of the collection is available on the Internet. A film has been devoted to every car of the 17 “works of art on wheels”, in addition to extensive photographic material. Each of these cars was designed by an internationally well-known artist. Many historic racing footage and artists’ statements as well as renowned representatives from art and culture are to be seen. A total of 17 artists from 9 countries and all 5 continents have contributed to the collection, artists such as Alexander Calder, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, A.R. Penck, Jenny Holzer, David Hockney or Olafur Eliasson. Jeff Koons created the latest vehicle of the collection last year, when BMW celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Art Car series. “After four decades and a total of 17 BMW Art Cars, they can now all be admired by everyone.
