73 PERCENT OF INTERBANK PAYMENTS IN ARMENIA WAS MADE BY ELECTRONIC SYSTEM

PanARMENIAN.Net - 17.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. On November 15 of 2000 the millionth payment was made in Armenia by the system of interbank electronic payments, Mediamax was informed from the press office of the Central Bank of Armenia.

The system of interbank electronic payments was introduced in Armenia in 1997. On the initial stage of operation of this system insignificant part of payments have been made through this system, in particular, within 1997 only 2 percent of electronic payments was registered, in 1998 - 7 percent and in 1999 - 37 percent.

Within 2000 (including September) 73 percent of interbank payments has been made by the Central Bank of Armenia via the electronic payments system. -0--
