ANC never proposed coalition to start dialogue

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Congress (ANC) and Armenia’s authorities will not enter into real dialogue, until the coalition working group engages representatives of executive bodies instead of parties’ members, according to the ANC statement says.

The Congress has never proposed coalition to start dialogue, so it is clear from the statement that coalition parties, on their own initiative, expressed willing to start political discussions with ANC; a respective working group was formed with this aim. However, the ANC statement also notes that the Congress reiterated on readiness to start talks with representatives of executive bodies but not parties’ members.

“Until such a delegation is formed the dialogue between ANC and authorities is out of the question,” the statement runs. Nevertheless, ANC members expressed readiness to meet and listen their colleagues with respect, however considering that the place of meeting could be chosen more neutral. Moreover, the Congress is ready to maintain the format of meetings with the coalition, simultaneously with Congress-authorities talks’ main format.

On July 16, Armenian parliamentary speaker Hovik Abrahamyan came out with a statement with regard to formation of a working group to participate in coalition-opposition talks, which includes: David Harutyunyan (Republican Party of Armenia), Gagik Minasyan (Republican Party of Armenia), Naira Zohrabyan (Prosperous Armenia Party), Vardan Bostanjyan (Prosperous Armenia Party), Mher Shahgeldyan (Orinats Yerkir Party) and Khachik Harutyunyan (Orinats Yerkir Party).

Members of the coalition group invite their Armenian National Congress (ANC) colleagues to participate in the first meeting on July 18, in the small conference hall of the Public Council.
