ARMENIAN PARLIAMENTARIAN STANDS FOR COMBAT AGAINST SHADOW ECONOMY

PanARMENIAN.Net - 14.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. I welcome the fact that the President Kocharian has started an active efforts against the economic problems, a parliamentarian and chairman of "Orinats Yerkir" party Arthur Baghdassarian said in his interview to Mediamax.

Baghdassarian stressed that an optimistic statements on possible tangible improvement of economic situation in 2001, which were voiced by the Armenian President Kocharian during his recent TV interview, must be consolidated by a concrete activity. The deputy said that his party is ready to assist in implementation of economic programs.

According to Baghdassarian the main guarantees for improvement of social and economic situation in Armenia must be the formation by the government of precise concept regarding the fields, as well as ruthless and public fight against the shadow economy.

"Armenia - is a small country and it is not difficult to unmask the names of those companies and businessmen who monopolized separate spheres of economy and evade the taxes," the Armenian parliamentarian said.

At the same time, Baghdassarian underlined that the government has to exclude the "state terror" regarding the entrepreneurs acting within the law.

"I welcome the fact that the newly appointed minister of the state incomes and the minister of economy and finance announced that application of such mechanisms is not acceptable for replenishment of the state budget," Baghdassarian added. --0--
