Armenia starts preparatory activities for stress tests at NPP

Armenian NPP started implementation of nuclear stress tests immediately after OSART IAEA mission’s working visit, the chairman of Armenian Nuclear Safety Regulation State Committee Ashot Martirosyan said.

As he reminded in a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, after a disaster at Fukushima Japan’s nuclear plant, a resolution was taken to conduct stress tests at EU member states-located nuclear power plants. Preliminary results must be ready by August 15, 2011, with the final conclusion to be provided by yearend.

“We’re expecting the EU-offered technical and financial assistance; yet before the assistance arrives in 2012, we launched the preparatory actions for implementation of stress tests based on the demands of West-European regulatory bodies,” Martirosyan explained.
