Yerevan water supply system needs $700 mln. to be upgradedJuly 27, 2011 - 12:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Within the last 20 years, water supply and drainage system of Yerevan has been operated and no capital repair works were done for that period, according to Managing Director of Yerevan Jur CJSC for Eastern districts Karapet Ohanyan. “Modernization of the whole system is one of the most complex problems and $700 mln. is required to upgrade it, but neither the government of Armenia, nor the managing company have this amount,” Ohanyan told a press conference. Yerevan Jur CJSC has invested $17,5 million and AMD 4,2 billion in renewal of worn-out pipes and pump stations for the last 5 years, said the Managing Director.
