Coalition, opposition skeptical over snap presidential electionNovember 18, 2011 - 14:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Both coalition and opposition parties of Armenia are equally skeptical over the possibility of snap presidential election in Armenia. “The idea is far from reality, there being no feasible reason to believe pre-term presidential election possible. President Sargsyan fully controls the situation, as proved by the resignation of parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan,” according to member of Heritage opposition party Armen Martirosyan. The deputy chairman of National Assembly, a member of ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), in turn, noted extraordinary election as absurd, similarly to a member of Orinats Yerkir coalition party Khachik Harutyunyan. According to recent media reports, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan may follow the suit of his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Saakashvli by combining regular parliamentary and pre-tern presidential elections.
