Armenian parliament passes controversial environment bill

PanARMENIAN.Net - Despite opposition from Heritage party, the Armenian National Assembly passed a controversial bill to introduce amendments to the law on environmental impact expertise.

The bill was adopted with 63 votes in favor, 7 against and 2 abstentions.

By request of Heritage parliamentary group leader Stepan Safaryan, a 20-minite pause was made during the discussion for him to speak with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan on the phone.

Heritage’s proposal to postpone the hearing was rejected.
