Yerevan to host week of modern Italian cinemaDecember 8, 2011 - 16:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - From December 20-25, Yerevan will host a week of modern Italian cinema, Italian Ambassador to Armenia Bruno Scapini said. “We welcome Hamazgayin Theatre’s readiness to cooperate with us in the framework of the project which hopefully will be of lasting nature,” he said. The ambassador noted that the opening ceremony of the week will feature concert by famous Italian musician Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi and Vahe Melkonyan’s photo exhibition. "Italian cinema retains its special place in world cinematography, despite current development of U.S. film industry. Movies presented in the framework of the project are a unique expression of Italian life, at times tragic, at times sentimental," Ambassador Scapini said. Screenings will be preceded by film critic Sara Nalbandyan’s presentations, with free entrance provided to all movies.
