Armenian President optimistic about development of relations with LebanonDecember 9, 2011 - 15:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President is optimistic about development of relations with Beirut, with newly formed Armenia-Lebanon Association to contribute to the process. During the meeting with President Michel Sleiman, Serzh Sargsyan thanked the Lebanese leader for Armenian Genocide recognition at parliamentary level. Sargsyan specifically noted official Beirut's attitude to the Lebanon's Armenian population, allowing them to integrate into the life of the country while preserving their heritage. President Sleiman, in turn, expressed readiness to support Armenia in formation of its statehood. Discussion of the ways to extend cooperation in security, cultural and economy sectors as well as within international organizations' framework was on the presidential meeting agenda. On December 8, Mr. Sleiman arrived in Armenia on the invitation of Armenian leader Serzh Sargsyan. Meetings with President Sargsyan, Armenian officials as well as Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II are on the agenda. Also, agreements to promote development of bilateral relations are to be signed during the visit.
