Defense Ministry to secure return of remaining Armenian hostages in 2012

PanARMENIAN.Net - On December 13, Armenian Defense Ministry hosted the resulting meeting of the Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People, chaired by Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan.

The outcomes of the commission’s activity for 2011 and 2012 program were in the focus of the meeting.

Among the positive results, commission members noted Armenian hostage Arthur Badalyan’s release from Azeri captivity, with three other soldiers sent to third countries.

Dwelling on the activity by the Armenian side, participants said that one army prisoner was returned to Azerbaijan and another sent to a third country during 2011.

Minister Ohanyan, in turn, noted that 2012 envisages deepening of cooperation with international organizations to secure the return of remaining Armenian hostages in Azerbaijan.

Upon the completion of the meeting, several commission members were awarded diplomas and medals, Defense Ministry press service reported.
