ARMENIA AND RUSSIA DEEPEN ENERGY COOPERATION

PanARMENIAN.Net - A protocol on deepening the Armenian-Russian cooperation in electric energy field is signed in Yerevan today. Armenian prime minister Andranik Margarian and "United Energy Systems (UES) of Russia" Stock Company head Anatoly Chubays have signed the document that emphasizes the need for restoring simultaneous operation of the energy system of Armenia with the united energy systems of the CIS countries. The document also cites the need for preserving and developing simultaneous operation of the energy systems of Armenia and Iran and jointly exporting electric power by Armenia and Russia on mutually favorable terms. At that the Armenian government and "UES of Russia" Stock Company will make combined efforts to arrange safe and efficient functioning and management of the key energy objects of Armenia - the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, the Sevan-Hrazdan cascade of hydroelectric power stations and the Hrazdan thermoelectric power plant. Joint proposals over the strategy of Armenia's cooperation with adjoining states in the energy sphere will also be worked out.
