NA vice-speaker: RPA will become EPP member Feb 9

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will become European People's Party (EPP) de jure member at EPP convention on Feb 9, according to Armenian National Assembly vice-speaker Eduard Sharmazanov.

Following four Armenian parties: RPA, Prosperous Armenia, Orinats Yerkir and Heritage claimed a bid for EPP membership in 2011.

“RPA, as well as Orinats Yerkir and Heritage may further become EPP partners. Decision on accession to the party will be taken during a convention in February 2012,” head of EPP Wilfried Martens said during a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
