The Armenian Minister of Economy, Tigran Davtyan stressed in his welcoming speech the importance of this project, saying it differs from previously implemented ones. “This time we hope to achieve a tangible result since we have a firm basis for SME development,” he noted with regard to the increased rating of Armenia’s economy according to World Bank’s Doing Business criteria. For her part, head of the USAID Armenia Office Jatinder Chima said this is the first project of its kind in the region. “It was difficult to establish the project since we had no model to work on. Implementation of the project is a hard yet a real task,” Chima said. The USAID jointly with the Pragma corporation and the Armenian Ministry of Economy will implement the “Business development: Boosting market competition” project aimed at creation of favorable conditions for SME development in Armenia, boosting market competition, promotion of innovations, as well as strengthening of labor force potential.
