The Investigative Committee of Armenia has announced the arrest of 28 participants of an opposition demonstration that took place outside the building of the Foreign Ministry on Friday, May 31. The press service of the Investigative Committee said in a statement that between 15:00 and 16:00, members of the civil disobedience campaign approached the Foreign Ministry building and attempted to break through the police cordon around it. According to the investigation, the demonstrators threw stones, water bottles, smoke bombs, etc. at the police, and some of them began calling for the seizure of the building. As a result, 28 people were taken to the police. On May 31, the movement Tavush for the Motherland staged a rally near the Armenian Foreign Ministry, demanding a meeting with the minister to comment on recent statements by the leaders of Turkey and Azerbaijan. The minister refused to meet with the protesters, who demanded to be allowed into the building. Police forces, who cordoned off the ministry, did not allow the protesters to enter the building. A little later, the rally escalated into clashes between security forces and protesters. Law enforcement officers detained about 30 people.
