TWO MOSCOW RESIDENTS DETAINED FOR ORGANIZING TERRORIST ACT DURING OPPOSITION RALLY IN YEREVAN

PanARMENIAN.Net - Two men have been detained on accusation of organizing a terrorist act during the opposition rally in Yerevan. As reported by the press service of the RA General Prosecutor's Office, on April 9 the law-enforcers arrested Moscow residents Gevork Mesropian and Artur Mangasarov for illegal weapon bearing. The investigation showed that one of the opposition deputies of the Armenian National Assembly and some of his associates were preparing a terrorist act. The criminal grouping hired G. Mesropian and A. Mangasarov, earlier convicted, and provided them with illegal weapons. They were expected to shoot in different directions at the moment the marchers would leave the square, creating thus the atmosphere of panic, and carry out the assassination. A criminal case was initiated in accordance with the articles of the Criminal Code providing for punishment for assassination and illegal bearing and usage of weapon and ammunition. Masropian and Mangasarov confessed of their intentions. Besides, according to a report by the RA General Prosecutor's Office member of political council of the Republic party serving on Justice opposition bloc Aramazd Zakarian was detained for appeals to violent change of the constitutional regime in the country and public insult addressed to the leadership.
