KOCHARIAN: RUSSIAN NOTABLY REPRESENTED IN ARMENIAN ENERGY INDUSTRYMarch 25, 2005 - 11:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - As Armenian President Robert Kocharian noted at joint press conference with the Russian leader, Russia is quite notably represented in the energy industry of the Armenian economy. In his words, serious projects are being discussed in the sphere today. As noted by R. Kocharian, in the course of the conversation the two state leaders touched upon issues of activation of investment activities of the Russian business in Armenia. «The Armenian party welcomes it, - R. Kocharian noted, - and we will form the necessary conditions for the work of the sphere to be effective.» The Armenian President especially mentioned the large potential of the Armenian-Russian economic cooperation. In his words, today reliable Moscow firms engage in building projects in Yerevan. He also noted that reconstruction of «Armenal» Armenian-Russian Foil Rolling Plant is under way and it will become one of the leading enterprises in the industry. «The matter concerns the new quality of cooperation, which will be of regional importance. The reserves are considerable,» R. Kocharian emphasized. In his turn V. Putin noted that the regional and investment cooperation provides for important reserves in the economic relations. In his words, stability of the political situation and economic development of the country is the most important precondition for expansion of joint work. «We recently observed certain growth of Russian investments into the Armenian economy, these are not large yet, however there are big prospects. I suppose that Armenian investments into the Russian economy are not ruled out and will be welcomed, especially in the industries, in whose development Armenia is interested. And such industries are available,» Vladimir Putin stated. In his words, in the course of the meeting the Presidents «agreed to further promote participation of Russian and Armenian investors in the investments and privatization fields.
