RA FM: KOCHARIAN-ERDOGAN MEETING ADVANTAGEOUS FOR TURKEY ABOVE ALL

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Kocharian-Erdogan meeting was first of all advantageous for Turkey, as it has to prove its readiness to establish contact with Yerevan to the international community, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian stated. In his words, the conduction of such meeting is not an urgent issue in the Armenian political agenda. "During the recent months the Armenian party has not stated its intention to hold a meeting with the Turkish leadership but I am convinced that Robert Kocharian would response to Ankara's proposal, as the two countries do have subject for discussion", V. Oskanian said. The Armenian FM considers that the Turkish diplomacy was guided by a precipitate reckoning. "Constantly reiterating about the possibility of Kocharian-Erdogan meeting the Turkish diplomats hoped that the Armenian President himself will initiate the bilateral meeting. The reckoning was incorrect. I was rather surprised at it, since the Turkish diplomats have always been known for their efficiency", Vartan Oskanian noted. In his words, such miscalculation nullified the progress achieved after the recent correspondence between the Armenian President and the Turkish Prime Minister. According to the RA FM, Erdogan's sharp statement that gave the European community the impression that the bilateral relations are experiencing no progress has become the second error of the Turkish diplomacy. "All this turned against Turkey, which is an aspirant to the European family. As it is known, Europe has set a number of criteria to Turkey including the Armenian Genocide recognition and lifting the blockade of Armenia", the Armenian FM stated, IA Regnum reported.
