Oskanian May Meet with Mammadyarov in New York

PanARMENIAN.Net - At the 61st session of the UN GA to open September 12 in New York Armenia will be represented by FM Vartan Oskanian. «I will make a report, while within the session I will meet with a number of diplomats, with whom regional problems will be discussed. A meeting with Azeri FM Elmar Mammadyarov is not ruled out,» Oskanian told journalists in Yerevan.



As of introducing the issue on the fires in Nagorno Karabakh and its adjacent territories to the agenda of the 61st session, Oskanian noted that Azerbaijan has the right to make its proposals. «However, I do not think that the UN is an institution, which has to deal with matters of fires. The OSCE, the Minsk Group for settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict are there for that. They should express interest. The Armenian MFA has already received a letter from the OSCE, suggesting to form a monitoring group to study and eliminate the consequences of the fires and the Armenian party has agreed to it,» said the MFA head. «Involving the UN in the Karabakh settlement talks is senseless,» the Armenian FM believes. In his words, the OSCE and MG cope with the matter well.
