NATO membership would double Armenia's problems

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is not aspired for NATO membership but is efficiently cooperating with the Alliance, RA President Robert Kocharian stated in Helsinki.

He said he doesn't see serious contradictions between Armenia's membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and cooperation with NATO.

"NATO is the most influential European security organization and we should cooperate with it," he said adding Armenia doesn't intend to join the Alliance.

"Armenia is located in a region where NATO membership would create extra problems. We cooperate not to please Brussels. We do choose cooperation which strengthens our security. NATO membership is not the thing," he said, ITAR-TASS reports.
