Diba Nigar Goksel: EU isn't waiting for Turkey

PanARMENIAN.Net - Reforms Turkey has to carry out for joining the EU are hardly moving, since they conflict with the views of majority of the population, analyst at the European Stability Initiative (ESI) Diba Nigar Goksel said at a Yerevan-hosted conference titled "Armenia and Turkey: Regional Interests in Light of European Integration Processes."

"Many in Turkey hold traditional way of thinking and the state can't admit some European standards, No one in the EU is waiting for us. We do not fit the European Union with our culture and policy. Meanwhile, development of democratic institutes is observed although the opinion of the Turkish public is mostly determined by nationalist attitude," she said.
