Serbia's vote for Azerbaijani UN resolution unformunate incident?April 8, 2008 - 20:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Tigran Torosian received Tuesday Serbia's Ambassador Liliana Bacevic (residence in Moscow), who arrived in Armenia to attend the inauguration of Armenia's President-elect, the RA NA press office reported. Mr Torosian evaluated the meeting as a good chance for strengthening relations between Armenia and Serbia and voiced hope that the visit of Serbia's President in 2008 will convey an impulse to the bilateral relationship. He mentioned that Armenia was really surprised to know that Serbia voted in favor of the Azerbaijan-initiated resolution on Karabakh in the UN General Assembly. He reminded that according to numerous international assessments, the resolution was unbalanced, unpromising and, moreover, had nothing to do with the Kosovo issue. Mr Torosian also voiced hope that the forthcoming visit of Serbia's President Boris Tadic to Armenia will help strengthening of bilateral ties. For her part, Ms Bacevic commented on the problems Serbia has to overcome and described Serbia's vote for the Azerbaijani resolution as an unformunate incident, which will not affect the Serbia-Armenian relations.
