RA Security Council: Turkey doesn't want to mediate in Karabakh process, it just wants to help

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia intends to establish a dialogue with Turkey, said Secretary of the RA Security Council.

"Our neighbors are not rivals and we should establish normal relations with them," Artur Baghdassaryan said.

Commenting on Turkey's intention to mediate tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he said that Ankara will never join the process as an intermediary. "President Abdullah Gul just said he is willing to facilitate the process. These are different things," he said, adding that Armenia is ready to accept any assistance for resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

"The format of the OSCE Minsk Group will not be changed and the Co-chairs have numerously stated it," Baghdassaryan said.

Earlier, Turkish President Abdullah Gul announced his intention to mediate between the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents. "The OSCE Minsk Group failed to produce effect during 17 years of its mediation. Turkey-Armenia and Azerbaijan-Armenia issues are not only bilateral but also territorial. The situation in the region has changed. Resolution of conflicts will lead to political and economic stability," he said.
