Armenia PACE vote depends on official Yerevan, European Commissioner says

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian government and opposition should work jointly to find a solution to the internal political crisis, a European Commissioner said.

"We are hopeful that they will be capable to choose the right way. Whether Armenia will be deprived of the vote in the PACE or not, depends on the steps official Yerevan takes," Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Commissioner responsible for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy, told a news conference in Yerevan today.

PACE winter session opens in Strasbourg on January 26.

The parliamentarians will discuss Armenia's meeting the provisions of PACE resolutions 1609 and 1620 on democratic institutes and investigation into March 1, 2008 events.
