RA President of Armenia demands Armenian Police Vice Chief murder solution

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan summoned Thursday a meeting to address the murder of Armenian Police Vice Chief, lieutenant colonel Gevorg Mheryan.



Noting that he is well informed of investigation process, President Sargsyan demanded a detail report on the work carried out for solution to the murder.



"This outrageous crime pained thousands of people," he said, adding that the criminal's bullet was aimed not at a particular person only, but at the law enforcement system as a whole.



"The recent activities developed by Gevorg Mheryan were directed at liquidation of corruption mechanisms. We have to acknowledge this and give a proportional respond," the President said.



Armenian Police Chief Alik Sargsyan, RA National Security Service Chief Gorik Hakobyan, Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan and inquiry group Gektor Sardaryan submitted particulars in the crime investigation and were instructed to take every possible measure to solve the crime within the shortest terms, the RA leader's press office reported.



Vice Chief of Armenian Police Gevorg Mheryan was shot dead at the door of his apartment in 65, Barbyus str., Yerevan, on February 3 evening. An unknown fired one shot into Mheryan's chest and three shots into his head.



The investigators found eight 9mm cartridges and four pistols at the site.



A criminal case in compliance with article 104.2 and article 235.1 of the Armenian Penal Code was initiated. An operational investigative group consisting of police officers and national security officers was formed.
