No Change in Karabakh ConflictMarch 5, 2009 - 21:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - No obvious changes in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement have been observed after the August war in South Ossettia and after signing the Maindorf Declaration,Alexander Iskandaryan, political scientist, Director of Caucasus Institute said to reporters in Yerevan. According to him the balance between the powers in the region is strong enough to resist the temptation of settling Karabakh conflict through military actions. The statements made by OSCE Minsk Group- it is a method of working on this level. From time to time they must make statements, make certain principles public, although these statements hardly have any effect on the real settlement of the problem. Anyway , it is necessary to show that the Minsk process is alive, because two years ago it was dead. But now the presidents meet and it is very good as in conflicts where there are no such meetings, armed conflicts are more probable, Iskandaryan emphasized. Besides, the Armenian political scientist made statements not committing to anything, reminding of the concept of Operational Response Forces of CSTO ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
