ONLY FOUR VOTES LACKED TO PREVENT DECISION TO FUND BAKU-JEYHAN OIL PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yesterday voting on the initiative of Congressman Joseph Crowley (D-NY) took place in the committee of financial service of the U.S. Congress. He had offered passing an amendment to the corresponding bill to limit the opportunity of funding Baku-Tblilisi-Jeyhan oil pipeline. The Congressman argues the construction of pipeline excluding Armenia will cost 600 million dollars more. Besides, realization of the project will contribute to economic and energetic isolation of Armenia, which does not correspond to U.S. interests. Four votes lacked to solve the problem affirmatively. 20 members of the committee voted for passing the amendment, and 24 - against it.
