US CONGRESS WILL CONSIDER REPEAL OF SECTION 907

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act is currently under attack by Azerbaijan that is seeking to exploit the September 11th terrorist attacks against America to put pressure upon the U.S. government." The press office of the Armenian National Committee of America informs about this. Leaders of this influential lobbyist organization possess information that Azerbaijani diplomats condition Baku's assistance to the U.S. anti-terrorist operation against Afghanistan upon abolition of Section 907, which prohibits the U.S. Administration rendering aid to Azerbaijan until it raises the blockade of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. Senator Sam Brownback, a long-time vocal opponent of Section 907, has come out with an initiative to consider its repeal. A vote on this subject will already be held today. Armenian National Committee of America has appealed to the constituencies to address their Senators a request to support preservation of the sanctions against Azerbaijan.
