Alexander Iskandaryan: Georgia has bad experience with national minorities

PanARMENIAN.Net - Commenting on recent statement of Georgian Foreign Minister Alexander Nalbandov, Director of the Caucasus Institute, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said that the issue of Armenian churches, along with other problems of the Armenian minority, is rather sensitive for Georgia. Georgia has a bad experience with national minorities, Iskandaryan told a press conference in Yerevan.

“National minorities have always played a key role in the establishment of Georgia’s statehood. Currently, there are two real national minorities in Georgia – Armenians and Azerbaijanis. Armenians are more organized, what causes concern of the Georgian authorities and public,” concluded Iskandaryan.

Earlier Alexander Nalbandov stated that the so-called “disputable churches” in Tbilisi and other regions are neither Georgian, nor Armenian and the demand of the Armenian community on return of churches is baseless.
