Aram Karapetyan: new person will rival Serzh Sargsyan during next presidential elections

PanARMENIAN.Net - Leader of New Times party Aram Karapetyan said that the coalition will spare no efforts to keep the resources in its hands during the 2012 parliamentary elections.

It is a classical method to keep the power through an oligopoly, Karapetyan told a press conference in Yerevan. He added that elections will change nothing in the country, unless systemic changes take place in Armenia.

Besides, Karapetyan described a possible scenario of the Armenian authorities’ actions during the 2013 presidential elections. According to Karapetyan, neither he, nor leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovhannisyan will be registered as presidential candidates.

He noted that a new politician will be selected from the opposition to rival incumbent Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, while the latter will win the elections.

“I know the name of this person – it is neither Levon Ter-Petrosyan nor Robert Kocharian,” said Aram Karapetyan, adding that a new person will be selected as a representative of the opposition. However, Karapetyan refrained from naming this person, saying that this man is experienced in the political field.
