A doctor visits Raffi Hovannisian

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 16, a doctor of the fourth hospital of Yerevan, under the supervision of which Liberty Square is, visited leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovannisian, who declared a hunger strike on March 15.

The doctor examined Hovannisian and assessed his health state as normal, according to the member of the Armenian parliament.

A PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent reported from the scene that several dozens of people are at the verge of Liberty Square together with Raffi Hovannisian, including members of the parliament and Heritage party, as well as other political forces - Armenian National Congress representatives Alexander Arzumanyan and Karapet Rubinyan, member of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group Lilit Galustyan.

During the extraordinary congress of Heritage on March 15, Hovannisian urged Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to resign and thus to ensure fair and independent elections in the country. He also announced the start of “Hungry for Change: Freedom and Justice in Armenia” hunger strike and promised to coordinate his future steps with the party members.

Hovannisian spend the night of March 16 at Liberty Square. According to head of Heritage parliamentary group Stepan Safaryan, the party was not allowed to put up a tent for Raffi Hovannisian. “It's a ground for children,” the police said.
