EU allocated Euro 7,7 mln for modernization of 3 frontier pointsApril 4, 2011 - 13:31 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s National Security Council (NSC) presented its goals and achievements in the framework of South Caucasus Integrated Border Management Program implemented by the UNDP through the EU funding. During the presentation, NSC secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan stressed increasing the border security level to be among the first priorities in Armenia. Reminding that on November 3, 2010 the NSC approved the strategy for border security provision and complex management of the state border, ratified by the Armenian President, Baghdasaryan noted that at present, a package of activities, based on the strategy in question is being developed in Armenian government. As he noted, the EU allocated Euro 7,7 million for modernization of 3 frontier points, with relevant works at Bagratashen, Bavra, Gogavan soon to be launched. The Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Dafina Gercheva and the representative of the delegation in Armenia Jean-Christophe Gayrand stressed the importance of the program in forming the atmosphere of freedom and safety, development of economy and reduction of trafficking risks.
