Heritage: amnesty life belt for authorities

PanARMENIAN.Net - The release of political prisoners could be eyed as a humane action but for the events of March 2008, according to Heritage opposition party member.

“Amnesty can ease domestic tensions,” Anahit Bashkhyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

However, she added, authorities were forced to declare amnesty as “the arrest of those people was illegal.” “This move was a life belt for the authorities,” Bashkhyan said.

As to possible repetition of March 2008 events, the MP said it’s not ruled out if the authorities mar the 2013 presidential election.
