CATHOLICOS OF ALL ARMENIANS WILL VISIT RUSSIA, USA AND GERMANY

PanARMENIAN.Net - 16.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin the Second will leave for Moscow on August 17, was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press service of St. Echmiadzin.

On August 18, on the threshold of consecration of the Temple of Christ the Savior in Moscow, with the participation of Catholicos Garegin II an Armenian khachkar (cross-stone) will be placed at the Temple symbolizing the fraternal friendship of the two churches. The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexiy II will also take part in the setting up of the khachkar.

After the visit to Moscow, the Catholicos of All Armenians will leave for New York, where he will take part in the summit of leaders of all the religions of the world, organized by the initiative of UN and dedicated to the discussion of ways of establishing peace in the new millenium. Garegin II will speak at the summit on "Towards absolution and harmony" in front of 1000 leaders of religions of the whole world.

On September 1, upon the end of the summit, Catholicos Garegin II will leave for Germany where he will take part in the opening ceremony of "The saved treasures of Kilikia" exhibition in Hale Vitenberg, dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity in Armenia. On September 3-10 the head of the Armenian church will take part in "Armenia-2000" international conference. -0-
