Armenian parliament needs enhanced activity of civil society February 17, 2012 - 13:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The National Assembly of Armenia needs enhanced activity of civil society because its plays an important role and has special significance for the legislative sphere, Armenian speaker Samvel Nikoyan said at the opening of the workshop organized by the EU Advisory Group. “I believe we need to closely cooperate with EU on issues of reorganization of the civil society in Armenia,” Nikoyan noted. He further added that the workshop provides a good opportunity to effectively discuss the subject. Head of the EU Delegation in Armenia Onno Simons, in turn, said the Public Council of Armenia is important in terms of promoting activity of the civil society in Armenia. “The Public Council of Armenia should review its methods of work to become a real representative of civil society,” he declared.
