The event will be held in the Theater of Variety Art. The band is arriving in Russia for the first time. The avant-garde folk is in demand in Europe today. European critics call Armenian Navy Band's music «a mountain stream that has flooded Hollywood Dixieland.» Instruments used by the Armenian Navy Band are a mix of Armenian folk instruments (duduk, blul, zurna, kanon and others) with contemporary ones - saxophone, trombone, bass, keyboard. Percussionist, singer and composer Arto Tuncboyaciyan was born in Turkey, lived in the US and returned to his historical fatherland only at the end of past century. He has 20 solo albums, music for cinema under his belt. In late 90s Arto Tuncboyaciyan gathered a group of 12 musicians from Armenia in Yerevan and started active creative work. Later he managed to organize the work of Avant-Garde Folk Music Club, which is very popular today. The Armenian Navy Band has taken part in many international festivals, has had concert tours in many European and Eastern countries. The group has already recorded 4 CDs - Bzdik Zinvor (1999), "New Apricot" (2001), "Sound of Our Life" (2003), "How Much Is Yours?" (2005).
