Family benefits not helpful for poverty reduction in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Member of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group Artsvik Minasyan said that the current system of family benefits does not solve the problem of poverty reduction in Armenia.

The Armenian government does not have a certain social program, Minasyan said during a parliamentary session, also expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s bill on introduction of amendments to the Law on Family Benefits.

“In my opinion, the government should submit a report on the social policy pursued. If it refrains from doing so, parliamentarians should demand its resignation,” he said.

Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan noted for his part that the bill submitted by the government will clear up questions with the Law on Family Benefits.
